Get Your Heat Pump Quote Online

Rather not have someone come over just for a quote? Email us a few photos and measurements and answer four questions, and we’ll send you a written installed price. It takes about 10 minutes with your phone.

Tell us about your home

  1. How do you heat your home now: natural gas, propane, electricity or oil?
  2. About how big is your home, in square feet?
  3. Is it a bungalow or a two-storey house?
  4. Do you have a central air conditioner now?

Please include your address, so we can check the rebates and our travel time.

Photos to send

Step back and fit as much as you can into each photo. A close-up of one part doesn’t show us how your system is set up, and it’s the setup we need to see to price the job. The only close-ups we need are the rating plates (the labels with the model number), sharp enough to read. Good light helps.

Inside

  1. The furnace room from a few steps back, so we can see the whole setup.
  2. The furnace rating plate with the model number, usually inside the front door or on the side.
  3. Your electrical panel with the door open, showing the breakers.

Outside

  1. Your outdoor air conditioner, if you have one.
  2. The air conditioner’s rating plate with the model number.

Tell us if the air conditioner sits right outside the furnace room wall. If it doesn’t, send a photo of the path the lines take and roughly how far it is, counting any trips up or down a floor.

A short video walking from the furnace to the outdoor unit works well too.

Ductwork measurements

We need the size of each main branch of your ductwork, so we can choose a heat pump your ducts can carry. It takes a tape measure and two minutes.

Front view: furnace with the plenum on top. A main branch leaves the plenum through a take-off on the left; the return air drop comes down on the right side of the furnace. Measure the main branch just past the take-off. Return air drop (left or right side, never a branch here) Furnace Plenum (coil box) Main branch Take-off Measure here: width × height width height The branch seen end-on
Seen from above: the return air drop takes one side of the furnace. Main branches can leave the plenum at the front, the back, or the other side. Back Plenum Side Returnair drop Front 1, 2 or 3 main branches: front, back, or the side without the return
  1. Find the plenum: the metal box right on top of the furnace, where the cooling coil sits.
  2. Find the main branches: the large ducts that leave the plenum. Most homes have one, two or three. They can leave from the front, the back, or the side of the plenum that doesn’t have the return air drop (the big duct coming down to the side of the furnace). Each one starts with a short piece called the take-off.
  3. Just past the take-off, measure each main branch: its width and height, in inches.
  4. Send the numbers, plus a photo of each branch with the tape measure on it.

If the line run is longer

We can give a firm price from photos for more than half of the homes we see. The part photos can’t always show is the refrigerant line run. Our price includes a new line set when the outdoor unit sits right outside the furnace room wall and the lines are easy to reach. When the unit is farther away, on another floor, or the lines would run through finished ceilings, you can choose:

  • a short visit, and we give you a final price, or
  • no visit: we quote with a price range for the extra line set work, and our installers confirm the exact amount on installation day, once they see the run.

No ductwork?

Ductless systems always need a visit before we can quote. Where each indoor unit goes, how the lines run through your walls and where the outdoor unit sits all have to be seen in person. Call (647) 846-3353 or email us to book a free visit.

What happens next

  • We review your photos and reply with a written installed price, or with a few questions.
  • If the line run needs a closer look, you choose a short visit or a price range we confirm on installation day.
  • Once you accept the quote, a $300 deposit, applied to your final invoice, confirms your order, and then we apply for your rebate pre-approval.
