- The electrical disconnect and wiring, up to 30 ft

- The ductwork changes needed to remove the old coil and fit the new one
- Careful line work: copper brazed with nitrogen and the system vacuumed before it is charged, so it stays clean and dry inside

What costs extra
Anything beyond the list, such as:
- A line set longer than 15 ft
- Wiring longer than 30 ft
- An electrical panel upgrade
- A breaker for an older panel that’s no longer made, such as Commander, where breakers are hard to find and expensive
- Other ductwork changes
- A condensate pump
- A new thermostat with brands other than Midea
- Replacing the furnace or air handler at the same time
Panel capacity, the distance from the panel and where the outdoor unit can sit also affect labour.
We tell you about any of these in the written quote, before any work starts.
Hybrid systems
Replace my old AC with a heat pump, keep the furnace as backup
Many GTA homeowners replace the old air conditioner with a heat pump and keep the gas furnace for the coldest days. This is called a hybrid or dual-fuel system. The heat pump costs the same as in the price cards above. Compare the options on our furnace installation page.

The price was great and the timing and installation was equally great.
Questions
Heat pump cost questions
How much is a heat pump for a 2,000 sq ft house in Ontario?
Usually a 2 to 3 ton heat pump, depending on how well the house is insulated. That puts it at about $4,300–$7,900 installed, before HST and rebates. We confirm the size at the free in-home consultation.
Does the price include installation?
Yes. Our prices include standard installation: up to 15 ft of new line set, up to 30 ft of electrical wiring, new drain lines and the duct changes needed to fit the new coil. About 8 in 10 installs qualify as standard. HST is extra, and any extra work is listed in your written quote before we start.
How much is a heat pump plus a new furnace?
Our heat pump plus furnace jobs typically came to $8,750–$11,500 installed, depending on the furnace and the heat pump size.
Can I get the rebate if the heat pump is already installed?
Not for Ontario’s Home Renovation Savings rebate: it requires pre-approval before installation, so we file the pre-approval first. The new federal rebate works differently. The Government of Canada says eligible heat pumps installed from November 1, 2026 can apply once the program opens in early 2027. Installs before that date don’t qualify for it.
Can you quote without a home visit?
Often, yes. Email us a few photos of your furnace, air conditioner and electrical panel, and we can quote from them for more than half of homes. If the outdoor unit is farther from the furnace or the lines are hard to reach, you can choose a short visit for a final price, or a price range for the extra line set work that our installers confirm on installation day. Ductless systems always need a visit. How to get an online quote.
Do you offer financing?
Yes, financing is available. Ask us for the current terms when you book your consultation.
